Laylatul Qadr Namaz | Method, Rules & Virtues of Shab-e-Qadr Prayers

Laylatul Qadr Namaz: Laylatul Qadr (Shab-e-Qadr) is one of the most blessed nights in Islam, believed to fall within the last ten nights of Ramadan, most likely on the 27th night, though it could be on any of the odd nights (21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th, or 29th). This night is better than a thousand months (83 years and 4 months) as mentioned in the Holy Quran, Surah Al-Qadr (97:3):

لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ

The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months.

Importance of Laylatul Qadr According to the Quran and Hadith

  • Surah Al-Qadr (97:1-5):

“Indeed, We sent the Qur’an down during the Night of Decree. And what can make you know what the Night of Decree is? The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months. The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter. Peace it is until the emergence of dawn.”

  • Hadith (Sahih Bukhari):

    The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:
Whoever stands (in prayer) on the night of Qadr with sincere faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, all his previous sins will be forgiven.

Intention (Niyyah) for Laylatul Qadr Prayer

The intention should be made sincerely from the heart, but you may say it as:

  5. Stand back up (Qawmah) and then go into Sujood (prostration), saying Subhana Rabbiyal A’la (3 times).
