Mauritius Ramadan Timetable 2027: Full Sehri and Iftar Schedule
The Mauritius Ramadan Timetable 2027 below sets out every Sehri and Iftar time for all thirty days of the blessed month, along with the five daily prayer times, calculated for Mauritius Time. Ramadan 1448 AH is expected to begin at sunset on Sunday, February 7, 2027, which makes Monday, February 8, 2027 the first full day of fasting for the island's Muslim community.
Mauritius sits in the southern hemisphere, so the pattern of the month works in reverse compared with Europe or North America. Days are getting shorter through February and March, which means each fast is slightly easier than the one before. The opening fast runs a little over fourteen hours. By the twenty ninth day it has dropped to roughly thirteen and a half.

When does Ramadan 2027 begin in Mauritius?
The Hijri calendar is lunar. Each month lasts 29 or 30 days and the full year runs about eleven days shorter than the Gregorian year, which is why Ramadan arrives earlier each season. Ramadan 2026 opened on February 18, placing Ramadan 1448 AH around February 8, 2027. Astronomical projections from the major Islamic calendar authorities agree on that date.
What calculation cannot settle in advance is the sighting. Mauritius has a long standing practice of local crescent observation, with mosque committees reporting to the central authorities on the evening of 29 Shaban before the start of fasting is announced publicly. That announcement typically comes through radio, television and mosque networks the same night. Some households with family ties to South Africa, India or the Gulf may see a different date circulating on social media, so it is worth deciding in advance whose announcement your family will follow.
One complication that affects many countries does not apply here. Mauritius keeps a single time zone year round and has not operated daylight saving since a brief trial ended in 2009, so your Sehri alarm will never jump an hour mid month.
Mauritius Ramadan Timetable 2027: full 30 day schedule
The table is calculated for Port Louis at latitude 20.16 south and longitude 57.50 east, using the Muslim World League convention that underpins most Mauritian printed calendars. Sehri ends at the Fajr time shown and Iftar begins at Maghrib. Two Asr columns are given because the island's community is predominantly Hanafi, and Hanafi Asr falls noticeably later. Scroll the table sideways on a phone to reach every column.

Sehri and Iftar across Mauritius and in Rodrigues
Mauritius measures roughly sixty five kilometres from north to south and around fifty from east to west. That is small enough that a single timetable genuinely serves the whole main island. Port Louis, Curepipe, Quatre Bornes, Vacoas, Beau Bassin, Triolet, Goodlands and Mahebourg all fall within one minute of each other for both Sehri and Iftar, which is why printed Mauritian calendars carry one set of times rather than a town by town breakdown.
Rodrigues is the genuine exception. It lies around 560 kilometres further east while sharing the same clock, so the sun rises and sets noticeably earlier there.
| Location | Sehri ends Feb 8 | Iftar Feb 8 | Sehri ends Mar 9 | Iftar Mar 9 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Port Louis | 4:40 AM | 6:50 PM | 4:56 AM | 6:31 PM |
| Beau Bassin and Rose Hill | 4:40 AM | 6:51 PM | 4:56 AM | 6:31 PM |
| Quatre Bornes | 4:40 AM | 6:51 PM | 4:56 AM | 6:31 PM |
| Vacoas and Phoenix | 4:40 AM | 6:51 PM | 4:56 AM | 6:31 PM |
| Curepipe | 4:39 AM | 6:51 PM | 4:56 AM | 6:31 PM |
| Triolet | 4:40 AM | 6:50 PM | 4:56 AM | 6:31 PM |
| Goodlands | 4:40 AM | 6:50 PM | 4:56 AM | 6:30 PM |
| Mahebourg | 4:39 AM | 6:50 PM | 4:55 AM | 6:30 PM |
| Port Mathurin, Rodrigues | 4:17 AM | 6:26 PM | 4:33 AM | 6:07 PM |
For Rodrigues, the practical rule is to subtract twenty three or twenty four minutes from every Port Louis time in the main table. Families travelling between the islands during Ramadan should remember that although the clock does not change, their fast will start and end at a visibly different point in the day.
How these prayer times were calculated
When people rely on a schedule for an act of worship, they deserve to know where the numbers came from. Solar declination and the equation of time were computed from the NOAA solar position algorithm for each individual date, then converted to local clock times at each location's coordinates using a fixed offset of four hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time.
- Fajr: sun 18 degrees below the horizon, the Muslim World League standard reflected in most Mauritian calendars
- Sunrise and Maghrib: geometric sunset with the standard 0.833 degree correction for atmospheric refraction and the solar disc radius
- Dhuhr: solar noon plus a short allowance for the sun to clear the meridian
- Asr standard: shadow equal to object length plus the noon shadow, the position of the Shafi, Maliki and Hanbali schools
- Asr Hanafi: shadow equal to twice object length plus the noon shadow, the convention most Mauritian mosques print
- Isha: sun 17 degrees below the horizon
If your mosque works from the ISNA convention of 15 degrees instead, Sehri would end roughly fourteen minutes later and Isha would fall around ten minutes earlier than the times listed here. Communities following Umm al Qura would see Sehri close to the times above but Isha fixed at ninety minutes after Maghrib.
The last ten nights and Laylat al Qadr 2027
The final ten nights of Ramadan 1448 begin on the evening of Saturday, February 27, 2027. The twenty seventh night, most widely associated with Laylat al Qadr, falls on the evening of Saturday, March 6. Remember that Islamic nights begin at Maghrib, so the night of the twenty seventh starts after sunset on the evening preceding the twenty seventh daytime fast.
Mosques across Port Louis, Plaine Wilhems and the north run extended Qiyam programmes through these nights, and many offer itikaf, the retreat inside the mosque for the final ten days. Because the likely night of Qadr lands on a Saturday in 2027, working adults have an unusually convenient opportunity to take part. Spaces for itikaf in the larger masajid are limited, so speak to your mosque committee early in the month rather than in the final week.
Eid al Fitr 2027 in Mauritius
If Ramadan 1448 runs twenty nine days, Eid al Fitr falls on Tuesday, March 9, 2027. If the month completes thirty days, Eid moves to Wednesday, March 10. Eid al Fitr is one of the public holidays recognised in Mauritius, and because the date depends on the moon it is confirmed and gazetted only once the sighting is announced. That is worth keeping in mind if you are booking travel or scheduling work around the holiday, since a one day shift is always possible.
Zakat al Fitr should reach those in need before the Eid prayer. Mosque committees announce the local amount during the final week of Ramadan, based on the prevailing price of staple food. Paying a few days early is better than paying on the morning itself, because it gives recipients time to actually use it.
Fasting through a Mauritian February
Ramadan 2027 falls squarely in the hot season, and that shapes how the month feels far more than the clock does.
Heat and humidity are the real challenge
February is typically the warmest and most humid month of the Mauritian year, with coastal areas such as Port Louis, Grand Baie and Mahebourg feeling considerably heavier than the central plateau. Curepipe and Vacoas sit several hundred metres higher and stay noticeably cooler and wetter, which many fasting people find easier. Drink steadily across the whole evening rather than in a rush at Iftar, and take advantage of the cooler hours around Fajr.
Cyclone season overlaps with Ramadan
The Mauritian cyclone season runs from November through May, with activity often peaking between January and March. Class warnings can suspend Taraweeh congregations at short notice. Keep a small home routine ready so that the night prayer can continue at home if a warning is issued, and follow official meteorological bulletins rather than social media reports.
Outdoor and manual work
For those working in construction, agriculture, fishing or the tourism sector, the midday hours are the hardest part of a summer fast. Where a manager can shift heavier tasks toward early morning or the last hour before Iftar, it makes a substantial difference. Light coloured, loose clothing and shade breaks matter more here than any dietary trick.
Sehri worth waking for
Sehri ends between 4:39 AM and 4:56 AM through the month. Set two alarms in the first week while your body adjusts. Slow releasing foods such as oats, eggs, yoghurt and fruit will carry you much further through a fourteen hour summer day than sugar heavy alternatives.

Frequently asked questions
When does Ramadan 2027 start in Mauritius?
Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin at sunset on Sunday, February 7, 2027, making Monday, February 8 the first full fasting day. The confirmed date depends on the local crescent sighting announced on the evening of 29 Shaban.
What time is Iftar in Port Louis during Ramadan 2027?
Iftar falls at about 6:50 PM on the first day and moves gradually earlier to around 6:31 PM by the final day, because Mauritius is in the southern hemisphere and days shorten through February and March.
How long are the fasting hours in Mauritius in 2027?
Fasting runs about 14 hours 11 minutes on the first day and shortens to roughly 13 hours 34 minutes on the last. Ramadan 1448 falls in late summer, so the days are long and humid.
Does one timetable work for the whole island?
Yes for the main island. Port Louis, Curepipe, Quatre Bornes, Triolet and Mahebourg differ by no more than one minute. Rodrigues is the exception and runs roughly 23 minutes earlier for both Sehri and Iftar.
When is Eid al Fitr 2027 in Mauritius?
Eid al Fitr is expected on Tuesday, March 9, 2027 if Ramadan runs 29 days, or Wednesday, March 10 if it runs 30 days. It is a public holiday, confirmed once the moon is sighted.
Which calculation method do Mauritian mosques use?
Most local timetables follow the Muslim World League convention, with Fajr at 18 degrees and Isha at 17 degrees. Because the community is largely Hanafi, Asr is usually printed at the later doubled shadow time.
Does Mauritius change its clocks during Ramadan?
No. Mauritius stays four hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time all year and does not operate daylight saving, so there is no clock change during the month.
