California Ramadan Timetable 2027: Full Suhoor and Iftar Schedule
The California Ramadan Timetable 2027 below gives you every Suhoor and Iftar time for all thirty days of the blessed month, plus the five daily prayer times, calculated for Pacific Standard Time. Ramadan 1448 AH is expected to begin at sunset on Sunday, February 7, 2027, which makes Monday, February 8, 2027 the first full fasting day for most California communities.
Because Ramadan falls in late winter next year, California Muslims will experience some of the shortest fasting days in over a decade. The first fast in Los Angeles lasts under twelve hours. That is a real gift for students, shift workers, parents and anyone fasting for the first time.

When does Ramadan 2027 begin in California?
The Hijri calendar is lunar, so each Islamic month runs 29 or 30 days and the whole year is roughly eleven days shorter than the Gregorian year. Ramadan 2026 began on February 18, which places Ramadan 1448 AH around February 8, 2027. Astronomical projections from major Islamic calendar authorities agree on that date.
What no calculation can settle in advance is the moon sighting. California mosques generally follow one of three approaches: local sighting within North America, global sighting reported from anywhere in the Muslim world, or a pre calculated astronomical criterion. Because of this, a small number of communities may begin fasting on February 7 or February 9. The practical advice is simple. Treat February 8 as your planning date, pack your schedule around it, then confirm with your own masjid on the evening of Sunday, February 7.
One thing you will not need to worry about this year is the clock. Daylight saving time in the United States starts on Sunday, March 14, 2027. Ramadan ends before that, so the entire month sits inside Pacific Standard Time and your Suhoor alarm never jumps an hour.

Suhoor and Iftar times for major California cities
California stretches almost ten degrees of latitude and more than five degrees of longitude, so a single timetable cannot serve the whole state. The difference between San Diego and the far north of the state is meaningful, particularly for Iftar. Use the reference times below to work out how your city compares with Los Angeles.
| City | Suhoor ends Feb 8 | Iftar Feb 8 | Suhoor ends Mar 9 | Iftar Mar 9 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Los Angeles | 5:34 AM | 5:30 PM | 5:03 AM | 5:56 PM |
| San Diego | 5:29 AM | 5:28 PM | 4:59 AM | 5:52 PM |
| Anaheim | 5:33 AM | 5:29 PM | 5:01 AM | 5:54 PM |
| Bakersfield | 5:38 AM | 5:31 PM | 5:05 AM | 5:58 PM |
| Fresno | 5:42 AM | 5:32 PM | 5:08 AM | 6:01 PM |
| Sacramento | 5:50 AM | 5:36 PM | 5:13 AM | 6:07 PM |
| San Jose | 5:51 AM | 5:39 PM | 5:16 AM | 6:09 PM |
| San Francisco | 5:53 AM | 5:41 PM | 5:18 AM | 6:11 PM |
How to adapt the main timetable to your own city
Take your city from the table above, compare its first day Iftar with the Los Angeles value of 5:30 PM, and apply that offset across the whole month. San Francisco is eleven minutes later, so add eleven minutes to every Iftar row. Fresno is two minutes later. San Diego is two minutes earlier. Suhoor offsets are larger than Iftar offsets because the northern cities sit further west as well as further north, which delays dawn more than it delays sunset.
For smaller communities in Riverside, Stockton, Modesto, Oakland, Long Beach, Irvine or Chula Vista, pick the nearest listed city and expect the difference to stay within two or three minutes. If you want precision to the minute for your exact neighbourhood, always defer to the printed timetable issued by your local masjid, since that is the schedule the congregation will actually pray by.
How these prayer times were calculated
Transparency matters when people are relying on a schedule for an act of worship, so here is exactly how this timetable was produced. Solar declination and the equation of time were computed from the NOAA solar position algorithm for each date, then converted to local clock times at each city's coordinates for a fixed Pacific Standard Time offset of eight hours behind Coordinated Universal Time.
- Fajr: sun 15 degrees below the horizon, the ISNA standard used by most North American mosques
- Sunrise and Maghrib: geometric sunset with the standard 0.833 degree correction for refraction and solar disc radius
- Dhuhr: solar noon plus a small allowance for the sun to pass the meridian
- Asr: shadow length equal to object length plus the noon shadow, the majority position followed by the Shafi, Maliki and Hanbali schools
- Isha: sun 15 degrees below the horizon
If your mosque uses a different convention
Not every community follows ISNA. The Muslim World League standard sets Fajr at 18 degrees and Isha at 17 degrees, which in California during February places Suhoor roughly twelve to fifteen minutes earlier and Isha around ten minutes later than the times listed here. Umm al Qura, used by some communities with Gulf ties, sets Fajr at 18.5 degrees and fixes Isha at ninety minutes after Maghrib. Hanafi congregations also calculate Asr using a doubled shadow length, which pushes Asr roughly forty minutes later than the times shown.
The last ten nights and Laylat al Qadr 2027
The final ten nights of Ramadan 1448 begin on the evening of Saturday, February 27, 2027 and run through to the end of the month. The 27th night, the one most widely associated with Laylat al Qadr, falls on the evening of Saturday, March 6, 2027. Because the odd nights are counted from sunset, the night of the 27th actually starts after Maghrib on the evening preceding the 27th daytime fast.
Many California mosques run extended Qiyam programmes through these nights, and a number offer itikaf, the spiritual retreat in the mosque. Since Ramadan 2027 covers two full weekends within the last ten nights, including the likely night of Qadr landing on a Saturday, working professionals have an unusually good opportunity to take part without booking leave. Register early with your masjid, because itikaf spaces in the larger Southern California centres fill up weeks ahead.
Eid al Fitr 2027 in California
If Ramadan 1448 runs 29 days, Eid al Fitr falls on Tuesday, March 9, 2027. If the month completes 30 days, Eid moves to Wednesday, March 10. Either way it lands midweek, so plan school absences and time off work in advance rather than the night before. California does not designate Eid as a public holiday, though several school districts, including some in the Bay Area and Southern California, recognise it as an excused absence.
Zakat al Fitr must be paid before the Eid prayer. Most California mosques set the amount between twelve and fifteen dollars per household member, announced during the final week of the month. Give it early so that it reaches families in time to be of genuine use on the morning of Eid.
Practical tips for fasting in California during February
A winter Ramadan in California is comparatively gentle, but the state's climate variation still calls for some planning.
Hydration still matters
Inland valleys such as Fresno and Bakersfield stay dry through February, and Santa Ana wind events in Southern California can push humidity into single digits. Drink steadily between Iftar and Suhoor rather than downing large volumes at once, and reduce caffeine in the first week while your body adjusts.
Plan around a short evening window
With Maghrib arriving around 5:30 PM and Isha roughly seventy minutes later, the gap between Iftar and Taraweeh is tight. Many families break the fast lightly with dates and water, pray Maghrib, head to the masjid, and eat the main meal after Taraweeh. If you commute on the 405, the 101 or the Bay Bridge, that first Iftar falls squarely inside rush hour, so keep dates and water in the car.
Suhoor logistics
Suhoor ends between 5:03 AM and 5:53 AM depending on your city and the date. Set two alarms for the first week. Protein and slow releasing carbohydrates such as oats, eggs and yoghurt will carry you further than sugar heavy options.
Fasting at school and work
California employers are covered by state and federal rules on religious accommodation, and a short written request for adjusted break timing is usually all that is needed. For students, tell teachers before Ramadan starts rather than midway through, particularly if physical education or sports practice is involved.

Frequently asked questions
When does Ramadan 2027 start in California?
Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin at sunset on Sunday, February 7, 2027, making Monday, February 8 the first full fasting day. The final date depends on the crescent moon sighting and is confirmed by mosques a day or two beforehand.
What time is Iftar in Los Angeles during Ramadan 2027?
Iftar in Los Angeles begins around 5:30 PM on the first day and moves to roughly 5:56 PM by the last day. Iftar is the moment of local sunset, so it shifts about one minute later each day.
How long are the fasting hours in California in 2027?
Fasting runs from about 11 hours 56 minutes on day one to about 12 hours 53 minutes on the final day. Because Ramadan falls in late winter, these are among the shortest fasting days California will see for several years.
Can I use the Los Angeles timetable in San Francisco or San Diego?
Not directly. San Francisco Suhoor ends about nineteen minutes later than Los Angeles and Iftar arrives about eleven minutes later, while San Diego is a few minutes earlier for both. Apply the city adjustment table above.
When is Eid al Fitr 2027 in California?
Eid al Fitr is expected on Tuesday, March 9, 2027 if Ramadan runs 29 days, or Wednesday, March 10 if it runs 30 days. Your local mosque announces the confirmed date on the evening of the 29th fast.
Which calculation method do California mosques use?
Most follow the ISNA convention, which uses a 15 degree sun depression angle for Fajr and Isha. Some communities follow the Muslim World League standard of 18 and 17 degrees, which places Suhoor around twelve to fifteen minutes earlier.
Does daylight saving time affect the 2027 timetable?
No. Daylight saving time begins on Sunday, March 14, 2027, after Ramadan ends. The entire month falls within Pacific Standard Time, so there is no clock change mid month.
